End of Year Review

There's only a few weeks left in 2017...what the whaaaa? While I believe in doing monthly/weekly check-ins with how your goals and biz are doing, I also think it's important to do a bigger-picture review at the end of the year. Let's tackle that this week!

Let's start with the wins...

***What amazing things did you achieve? Big or small, write them all down.

***What did you do to achieve them? That's your success strategy right there! Keep it up in 2018!

Ok, I get it, not everything in 2017 was all wins and celebrations. That's ok, it's good to reflect on those things as well.

***What did you want to achieve but didn't? Don’t feel bad about the fact that you didn’t make it happen. I like to remind myself that everything happens in the right way, at the right time, and everything I experience is a stepping stone to get me to where I w ant to be.

***Why didn't you achieve them? If you want, give yourself permission to release the goal, park it to one side.

***WHAT WERE YOUR BIGGEST FRUSTRATIONS AND CHALLENGES?

Get it all out! Once you know what holds you back and what’s stopping you, you can make a plan of action for how you can make sure it doesn’t hold you back moving forward.

4 Easy Tips To Try This Month!

It’s a new month! Here are 4 easy things to try to level up your business. Let me know what you’re going to try this month!

FB--4 Easy Tips To Try This Month!.png

SURVEY YOUR TRIBE---Feeling like you’re no longer connecting with your tribe? Use a service like Survey Monkey and send out a survey to your audience. Think of questions that will generate answers that could help you serve them better.

DO SOMETHING CREATIVE---Step away from your computer during the day and do something creative. Draw, doodle, sew, knit or paint an old piece of furniture. Even if there isn’t a project in mind, just try something!

REMEDY TO-DO LIST GUILT---Find something that has been lurking on your to-do list for at least a week and ask yourself why you haven’t done it yet. Either it isn’t important enough (to you) and you can ditch it, or it is important and you can think about why you are procrastinating on it. If it is too big, then break it down. If it is a boring task, then put a time limit on it. If you don’t have the right tools, then get them ordered, etc.

TAKE SOMEONE SUCCESSFUL OUT TO LUNCH---For the price of buying someone lunch, you could dramatically up-level your network and have the priceless opportunity of being able to learn first-hand from someone you wish to emulate. Many successful people love being able to share their story with people who are sincerely seeking guidance.

Have a 10 minute goal review session today!

We’re in the last quarter of the year! Whaaa? Now is the time to focus in on our goals and MAKE THEM HAPPEN. We still have time!

The challenge I find with goals is that often things get in the way of them… life, time, money, circumstances outside of our control. But the biggest thing of all that gets in the way (normally) is ourselves.

That is why it’s soooo important to make the time to have a goal review session with yourself.

Here’s how to do it:

1---Review the goals you set at the beginning of the year (hopefully you have them written down somewhere).

2---Have you reached any of your goals? If so congratulations and try write down how you made it happen (that’s a success strategy right there!)

3---Are there any goals you’ve gone off track with? If so, why has that happened? Really dig deep with this one. The more consciously aware you are of what’s going on, the more you can do about it.

4---Now decide which goals you really want to make happen by the end of the year – get super clear about them – no being vague ok?

5---Create a plan of action for how you’re going to make it happen and then create a schedule for the actions you need to take, so you know what to do and when to do it.

There’s plenty of time left to reach your goals. You’ve just got to get really focused and clear about what you want and need to do. Your turn, how do you stand with your yearly goals?

3 things you need to do to set your day up for success

As an entrepreneur, one of the best things is having the freedom to do whatever you want to do; you get to decide what time you wake up, how much time you take off and what you do. However, I also find this the biggest curse too.

The idea of having the freedom to do whatever you want is so dreamy, but the reality is a little different… have you ever had a day where you wake up and struggle to get out of bed, because you don’t know what you’re supposed to be doing, no one is telling you want to do or when to do it by, so you end up having a totally unproductive day? I have and I’m sure most us have!

The point is, having all the freedom in the world can sometimes be the hardest thing to deal with… all of a sudden you have to decide what you do with your time, you have to be super motivated and focused in order to make stuff happen!

So in order to be an amazing boss for yourself and get stuff done, so that every day can be a successful one, here are 3 things to do when you wake up (or the night before)…

1. Set your daily intentions: Yes, I know it’s simple and obvious, but if you’re being honest with yourself how often do you really do this? If you do it every day then amazing, but if you don’t then start doing it.

2. Make a daily game plan: Once you know what you want to achieve spend a few minutes writing down the steps you need to take in order to make it happen. When you know exactly what you need to do you’ll be able to get up in the morning much more easily, because you’ll know what your purpose is for the day. You’ll also be more focused and get more done.

3. Schedule your action steps: Once you know what you need to do create a timetable for yourself and write down what time you want to work on each step and how long you want  to work on each step for.

This is going to take your productivity to another level. When you can look at your daily plan and say “Ah it’s 3pm and right now I should be doing X” you’ll get less distracted, because you have a schedule to stick to, you’ll feel more motivated, because you know exactly what you need to be doing and everything will become so much easier.

When you get organized and become the master of your time, you’ll feel so much better and you’ll have way more successful days where you have breakthroughs and achieve lots of wonderful things.

So there you have it, 3 things you must to daily to set your day up for success! These things have transformed my days and I hope they transform yours just as much.

If you're feeling like you can't even start with these steps because you're in a tailspin in your biz, I've been there and I get it. Try my FREE guide to discover your flow, for your biz to get you started in the right direction!

If you're stalling in your biz, try this...

Have you ever been in a situation where you know there’s a problem or a block, but you don’t want to face up to it and so days, weeks, months, possibly years pass by and you’ve not managed to get past it?

This has happened to me a lot and when people would call me out on my faults or the things they could see weren’t working it would make me want to say, “I work really hard and I’m doing my best, the reason that hasn’t happened yet is because of X, Y and Z and there’s nothing I can do!”

The truth is, the reason it riled me so much is because I knew they were right and I didn’t want to admit it to myself…the problem is that failing to take responsibility doesn’t really get you very far!

When I realized all of this I made the decision that I wanted to be honest with myself, I wanted to take responsibility fast, so that I could move past problems and blocks quickly. The way I do this is by having an ‘honesty meeting’ with myself at least once a month.

Once a month (or once a week) sit down with a pen and paper and ask yourself these questions:

1.  What’s not working? Think about all of the things that aren’t really working, what things aren’t you making progress with? Do you feel like there are any blocks? Be really honest.

2.  Once you’ve written all that down, ask yourself why it’s not working. Why are you experiencing those challenges? What’s really at the bottom of it all?

3.  How can you take responsibility for it all? What could you do right now to start taking responsibility and moving past the problems?

4.  Do it – take action right away!

It’s also good to do the same exercise, but looking at what’s going right – often when you analyze what’s you’re doing really well you uncover your own success formula, which you can then apply to the things which aren’t going so well.

Tell me, how do you get past being stuck?

My top 5 steps to make progress towards your goals....even when you have no clue how to start!

Have you ever come up with an amazing idea, but then had absolutely no clue how to get started and actually make it happen? Join the club! I think most (if not all) entrepreneurs feel like this regularly. I know I do!

But, there are 5 steps I take every time I face the challenge of not having a clue what to do – they help me to overcome the challenge and start making progress.

**Step One: Accept that it’s ok not to have a clue. Once you’ve done this you can move your focus onto what you can actually do. Instead of seeing not having a clue has a problem, see it as an adventure, see it as an opportunity to learn and grow.

** Step Two: Ask questions. Find an expert and reach out-- people LOVE being asked for advice.

** Step Three: Learn as much as possible. If you want to achieve amazing things and build successful businesses then you need to be constantly learning and investing time in your personal development.

** Step Four: Make a list of all the things you can do today. There are things you can start doing today that will help you to get closer to achieving your goals – write them down and get clear on what they are. Sometimes when you’re caught up in the confusion of trying to make progress when you feel like you haven’t got a clue, it’s easy to forget about what you can actually do.

**Step Five: Break it down and make a plan. Now you know the things you can start doing, make a plan so you know when you’re going to do them. Fit them into your daily to-do list and plan on actually taking action. They might seem like small steps, but that’s how progress is made – slowly, but surely.

That’s it! If you follow these steps you WILL make progress, I promise! Let me know, what are your favorite ways to get unstuck?

Overcome self-doubt and achieve those goals!

Open up your planner right now. Is there a big goal or project in there you’ve been meaning to do for weeks, but keep putting off? Sure, it’s easy to go along with business as usual, taking the same small steps and seeing the same amount of growth. But success happens when you step outside of your comfort zone and take those big leaps into the unknown.

If you’ve been putting off doing something because of that little voice in your head, here are four ways to overcome your self-doubt and achieve your goals.

1. GIVE YOURSELF SOME ADVICE: We’re so much harder on ourselves than we are on others. But when it comes to our business friends, all we can see is how awesomely talented they are. So treat yourself like you would treat your friend. Think about what is worrying you the most, and then write down a response as if you were writing to them.

2. GET SOME OUTSIDE PERSPECTIVE: Sometimes, as business owners we get so caught up in the small details that we can’t see the big picture. When this happens, stepping back to get some help from an outsider is so important. A business coach can help you develop a plan and focus on your goals.

3. REMEMBER YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Often we only focus on the things we haven’t achieved yet. Like, “I’m not making ten-figures a month,” or “I’ve only got 100 people on my email list.” Spend some time remembering how much you’ve already accomplished in your business so that you can celebrate your wins!

4. ALLOW YOURSELF TO LET IT GO: We are our own worst critic and you’re much better at what you do than you give yourself credit for. If you’ve done your very best and put all that you can into a project, then you can’t give any more. Allow yourself to press publish on your latest blog or send the piece to your client so that you can move onto the next project with a clear head and renewed focus.

Tell me, what are you best tips to get over yourself and get moving?

PS If you're still feeling stuck, try my favorite ways to to reaching your goals with ease and flow.

4 Easy Tips To Try This Month

It's a new month! Here are a few tips to try this month to rock it in your biz.

Schedule time with a mentor—Is there someone out there who you trust to show you the ropes? Reach out to them today and schedule a time for a chat, and work through some of your roadblocks. Sometimes, just having someone to talk to can work wonders.

Put something on the calendar—A meeting, an event, a deadline—whatever it is, just make sure you have something in the near and far future to look forward to.

Brainstorm like crazy--All of those ideas you’ve got rattling around in your brain? Write them down. Even the weird ones. Give yourself the freedom to have a no-limits brainstorming session. You could either jot them down using pen and paper, or create a running list of ideas in a Google Doc. Just get them down!

Sign up for a class/workshop--There is nothing more invigorating than learning from the pros. Sure, there’s free information you can find on Google, but how can you expect to truly up-level your business if you’re reading all the same, free info that everyone else is? Registering for a class or workshop is a great way to learn from someone who knows how to get you where you want to be.

3 tips for introverted entrepreneurs to grow their biz without overwhelm

The entrepreneurial path can be an awesome one for introverts.

Owning your own business sounds like paradise for many introverts. After all, by definition, we introverts “spend” energy on interacting, then “recharge” when we’re alone. We’re also often independent folks who prefer being left alone to get on with things rather than being constantly interrupted by co-workers. And we generally find interacting easier when we can prepare for it, rather than having to respond “on the fly.” So what better way to earn our living than working from home at our own pace, in our own space?

But being an introverted entrepreneur can also be seriously challenging.

Susan Cain’s book “Quiet” has helped the Western world to realise that shyness and introversion aren’t the same thing. But even for confident, assertive introverts, running a business still holds major challenges. Yes, you get to spend most of your days on your own…but there’s still no shortage of energy drain in your life. Finding clients, connecting with them, ensuring you understand what they want, and then providing it? That all chews through your energy reserves at a crazy pace. Then, to complicate matters, much of the business and marketing advice out there is aimed at extroverts. It makes basic assumptions that everyone’s excited by a 5-figure list, a 6-figure income, and as many clients as they can physically pack into their days. If you’re an introvert, that definition of business success probably doesn’t feel “exciting,” so much as “overwhelming.” It’s easy to conclude that you’re not cut out to be an entrepreneur.

Here are 3 recommendations to make it easier.
Luckily, there’s no one right way to run a business, and no one right set of goals to aim for. If you’re an introverted entrepreneur who longs for a less overwhelming way to build your business, here are three steps you can take.

1. REMEMBER: IT’S YOUR BUSINESS, SO YOU GET TO SET YOUR GOALS

The first thing to realise is that you don’t have to set huge goals for your business.

Whatever the folks who sell coaching programmes tell you, you’re not “playing small” by setting goals that suit you. It’s true that some people work well with wildly audacious, unrealistic goals. It’s also true that others work better by “crossing a chasm in several small jumps” (usually, by looking for a different place to cross!).

So it’s OK to take baby steps. It’s OK to make slow, steady forward progress. It’s OK to take things at a pace that works for you. This is your business, so the only person who gets to say what it should or shouldn’t achieve is you.

2. PRO-ACTIVELY MANAGE YOUR ENERGY BY “BUDGETING” IT WISELY

Many introverted entrepreneurs are well aware of the need to manage their time, but few realise they also need to manage their energy.

When I’m talking to my clients, I often liken energy levels to a bank account. For introverts, every interaction acts like a withdrawal. Every recharging activity done alone becomes a deposit. The overall aim is to keep your account out of overdraft.

So one of the major keys to avoiding overwhelm in your business is to “budget” your energy so that it’s available when you need it. And budgeting is simple (at least in theory): know what drains you, know what recharges you, and then plan your days from an energy-aware perspective.

3. GET SUPPORT FROM OTHER INTROVERTED ENTREPRENEURS

Despite our somewhat-unfair reputation for being anti-social, connection is just as important for us introverts as it for extroverts. In fact, connecting with other introverts can be a sanity saver – especially when we start feeling weird because our brains work differently.

However, as introverts, we often connect in different ways to our extroverted friends. We generally prefer to build a few deep relationships gradually over time, rather than make friends with a whole bunch of people at once. We also often do better if we can limit and pace our interactions.

And sometimes, it’s just easier and less overwhelming to connect with people whose minds work the same way.

Luckily, the online world makes this easy. There are all kinds of introvert-related websites, newsletters and blogs springing up now; and many of them are well worth checking out. Plus, you can find several excellent introvert-friendly online communities that allow you to participate at your own pace.

Reach out and connect with any of these to access the support you need.

Over to you! There are a lot of introverts in the entrepreneurial space – are you one of them?

If so, how do you make sure you stay out of overwhelm? And if not, where do you see yourself in the introvert/extrovert spectrum?

Please let me know in the comments!
